Rebate Hub Capture privacy
Last updated 28 September 2026
Rebate Hub Capture is the app installers use to take evidence photos for Rebate Hub jobs. It is run by Energy Saver Plus Pty Ltd, trading as Rebate Hub. This notice explains what the app collects and why. Rebate Hub's privacy policy covers everything else.
What the app collects
- The photos you take. They show the installation and may show parts of a customer's home.
- Where and when each photo was taken: the phone's GPS position, its accuracy and height, and the time. These are written into the photo and sent with it.
- The name you type in, the job number and the requirement each photo is for.
- Technical details: the app version, whether the app was open or in the background when a photo uploaded, and simple image quality checks. Like most web services, the servers also log the network address of each request.
The app has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. It uses the camera and your location only while you are taking photos.
Why
To show Rebate Hub, and the auditors of the energy programs Rebate Hub claims under, that the work was done, where it was done and when. Programs such as Victorian Energy Upgrades require geotagged, time-stamped photos as evidence.
Who sees it
- Rebate Hub staff.
- The job management system your company uses, where the photos are attached to the job.
- The systems Rebate Hub uses to prepare and lodge rebate claims.
- Program administrators and auditors, such as the Essential Services Commission, when they review a claim.
- Microsoft, which hosts the service for Rebate Hub.
Rebate Hub does not sell this information.
Where it is kept, and for how long
On Microsoft Azure in Australia, with a backup copy held in a second Australian region. Rebate Hub keeps job records, including these photos, for at least seven years, as its privacy policy says.
On your phone
A photo stays in the app until it has uploaded. If you allow it, the iPhone app also saves a copy to your photo library. That copy is yours, and Rebate Hub does not manage it.
